Conference Opening

Welcome speech by Mr Jüri Ratas, Prime Minister of the Republic of Estonia.

Discussion on youth in Europe today by:

  • Mr Keit Kasemets, Head of Representation in Estonia at European Commission
  • Mr Luis Alvarado Martinez, President of the European Youth Forum
  • Ms Anett Männiste, Representative of Estonia in the Erasmus+ Change Makers network
  • Mr Peter Mladenov, Youth Policies Directorate, Ministry of Youth and Sports of Bulgaria, representative of the Steering Committee of the 6th Cycle of the Structured Dialogue

After the opening, conference participants will be mapping what is important for young people in Europe now. This will not be live streamed, but we will be back at 17.15 rounding off the first day.

The European Union Youth Conference (EUYC) Estonia 2017 has the topic „Youth in Europe: What’s Next”.

Rounding off the first day, with collective mapping and sharing of insights from the day, based on what is important for young people in Europe now.

Kick off day 2

On the second day of the conference were are digging deeper: What matters and what to do about it, in shaping future youth field?

We start with a morning coffee with 11 year old Mr Gustav Paul Tamkivi and his mother Ms Ede Schank Tamkivi and, to take us into the future across generations.

After the morning session, conference participants will do a Future Festival, working on the future of youth in Europe. This will not be live streamed, but we will be back at 17.00 rounding off the second day.

Round off day 2, we look at the insights from the Future Festival from the conference participants, based on what topics that are important in shaping the future of youth in Europe. We have a look at the contributions from the outside world via social media.

Conference outcomes and closing

On the third and last day of the conference, we look at the conference outcomes, and how that affect the future process of the 6th cycle of the Structured Dialogue. The conference outcome will inform the guidelines for the open youth consultation to be launched in all the EU Member States as part of the Structured dialogue during the period November 2017-February 2018. In long term, the conference outcome will inform the proposal for the next EU Youth Strategy, to be published by the European Commission early summer 2018.
